Palestine Animated
Presentation of collective – mission and vision
“Palestine Animated” is a collective of Palestinian and international animation film-
directors whose films touch upon different aspects of Palestinian lives in their art.
During the ongoing genocide on the Palestinian people, we felt the need to come
together in support of each other as a community of artists, creating stronger bonds
between each other and helping get our films out to a broader audience: showcasing
stories about Palestine. The aim of our group is to show different expressions of
animated art by and about Palestine.
The collective aims to bring us together despite the fractures of exile and separation by
the occupation. The directors come from Gaza, West Bank and belong to the
international diaspora that´s spread all over the world.
In these dire times: all the directors have given their consent to free screenings, on the
condition that any profits from screenings go to those of the directors in the group that
need support. We are particularly pleased to show a selection of short films made by
children in Gaza, amidst the ongoing blockade and genocide, by Haneen Karaz, Nour Abdel Jawad, Shorouq Darwish and Fekra association with Rasmi Damo.
The directors in the group are: Khaled Jarada, Shereen Abedelkarim, Amal
al-Nakhala, Ahmad Saleh, Samira Badran, Jana Kattan, Tariq Rimawi, Basel Nasr, Dana
Durr, Rami Abbas, Msallam Hdaib, Amer Shomali, Dia´ Azzeh, May Odeh, Iman Zawahry,
Faiza Afifi, Dia´ Azzeh, Haneen Koraz, Rasmi Damo, Mats Grorud and Stefano Savona.
Integral to our work is the inclusion of grassroot organizers. Angeles Cabria (Rumbo
Gaza Spain) is one of the founders of the group- that help to make the films reach an
audience. We also cooperate with Kaboom animationfilmfestival in Holland and
Stoptrik Slovenia.
We wish to present our films for an international audience as an emotional, artistic
antidote to the death and destruction aimed at the Palestinian people.
